The JCC’s Laikin Auditorium buzzed with activity throughout the day Sunday, February 10. More than 60 volunteers came together to raise money for Jews in need at the Federation’s second Super Cellphone Sunday. Their efforts paid off – they raised more than $180,000 in one day for the Federation’s family of community programs and social services that benefit Jews in Indianapolis, in Israel and around the world.

Volunteers called more than 1,500 people throughout the day. The record-breaking Super Sunday total marks a 8 percent increase over last year.

Seasoned volunteers worked alongside newcomers from the Federation’s Young Leadership Division recruited by chairs Stacy Segal Witenstein and Mark Sniderman.

The callers read from prepared scripts as they reached both steady donors and prospective givers. Throughout the day, volunteers learned about the Federation’s important role in the community and shared that knowledge with the people they called. And the bustle didn’t stop there. While most volunteers asked for contributions from the community, others sorted pledge cards, counted in-coming pledges and announced steadily increasing totals. Although each volunteer signed up for a two-hour shift, many stayed longer and ensured a record-breaking Super Sunday.

The volunteers were rewarded for their hard work. Seventeen local businesses donated raffle prizes, including a gift certificate to Lulu's Electric Cafe, gift cards to Breadsmiths and a one year membership to the JCC.

In addition to great raffle prizes, the volunteers enjoyed gourmet food from Great Cooks, incuding chocolate chip brownies that were to die for.
